Boys cross country team opens practice, prepares for Nature Hill Invite

Practice started today for the OHS boys cross country team. The team’s first meet and only home appearance is Thursday, Sept. 4, as the OHS boys and girls teams host the Nature Hill Invite. Last year, then-senior Paul Timm set a school and course record with a 16:58 clocking. Timm’s performance, which was the first time ever recorded under 17 minutes on the course at the Nature Hill Intermediate School, also helped the OHS boys win the varsity team competition over Madison East. OHS finished with 49 points while East had 64. Janesville Parker was a distance third with 90. Check back for more information on the team as it shapes up under new coach Joel Heroux....

Nature Hill Invite is only opportunity to see OHS girls cross country team in action at home

If you want to see the OHS girls cross country team in action this season, at home, you’ll have only one chance to do so: Thursday, Sept. 4, at the Nature Hill Intermediate School. Every other meet is on the road, including one at Arrowhead a week later, on Thursday, Sept. 11. The Nature Hill Invite, which features some of the top teams in the area, is scheduled to start at 4:15 with the girls junior varsity race. It will be followed immediately by the girls varsity event. Last year OHS sophomore Marlie Houston finished second in a down-to-the-wire battle with winner Isabel Seidel of University Lake School. Houston won the title her freshman season.  She is also the defending Wisconsin Little Ten conference girls cross country champion. OHS win the girls team title at Nature Hill last season. See article on last year’s meet. Scheduled to compete this year are teams from Watertown, West Bend East, Germantown, Mukwonago, New Berlin West, Janesville Parker, Madison East, Milwaukee Messmer, University School, Brown Deer, and Lake Country Lutheran. Seidel graduated this past June so Houston is the top returner runner. The meet also features a boys competition. OHS’s Paul Timm, who graduated in June, was the boys winner last year....
