Varsity’s 3-0 win keeps it atop WLT; team now 9-0 and 22-3 overall

Ranked as the No. 3 D1 team in the state by the state’s volleyball coaches association, the OHS girls volleyball team defeated West Bend West Tuesday night in straight sets, 3-0, to remain atop the Wisconsin Little Ten standings with a perfect 9-0 conference record. Overall, OHS is 22-3.

The OHS junior varsity and freshmen teams also won to give the Cooney girls a clean sweep at all three competition levels.

The varsity win, 25-12, 25-14, 25-14, was even more impressive as West gave OHS a five-set battle when the two teams met on Sept, 10 at West Bend. In that match, OHS prevailed 3-2, but West, after losing the first set to OHS, 25-14, came back to take the next two sets, 25-21 and 25-21, before OHS rallied to win set four, 25-12, and the deciding fifth set, 15-8.

Honored at the match Tuesday night were a group of seniors who have helped bring the OHS volleyball program to the level of prominence it now enjoys: Carly Christopherson, Demi Rae Dunham, Hailey Leader, Heather Moutvic, Jaz Trudeau, and Leah Fenske.
