WIAA play continues tonight at Homestead; Cooney record now 31-5 for the season
It did not come easy, but the OHS girls varsity volleyball team won its own WIAA Regional championship Saturday at OHS by defeating Sussex-Hamilton in four sets, 20-25, 25-11, 25-18, 25-17.
Hamilton came out strong, controlling the first set with its blocking, but in the second set OHS took control. Cooney head coach Michelle Bruss said after the match, “Once we settled in, we never looked back. We were swinging hard and passed significantly better, which allowed our confidence to go through the roof.” The win pushed the team’s season record to 31-5.
