Two workshops, sponsored by Gals Institute and  designed to give girls, 9-17, the tools they need to become a successful, confident leaders within a multidimensional approach of using skills training, art and hands-on experiences are set for Saturday, Aug. 22,  and Sunday, Aug. 23, in Oconomowoc.

The first workshop, scheduled Saturday, Aug. 22, is “Say No to Frienemies”. It is for girls 9-12. According to facilitator Deanna Marincic, the workshop stresses how to make , keep, and maintain healthy relationships while being ourselves in a “mean girl” social media society. The workshop runs from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Loft 24.

The second workshop, held Sunday, Aug. 23, is “Reaching for Your Best Self.” For girls 13-17 years old,  its focus is on confidence building, leadership and goal setting. Participants will be encouraged to start the school year off with goals on friends, school, and the future. As with the first workshop, this one also runs from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Loft 24,

Says, Marincic, “You can say that you think your daughter has a strong sense of self and is well liked, and that’s great, but  why not add more confidence to that and help them continue to thrive in a competitive and social media fixated world.

Working with Marincic to facilitate the workshops is Abby Grothe. Gals was started five years ago. It focuses on empowering and helping girls grow into strong leaders and ladies. Marincic and Grothe have masters degrees in social work.
