OHS wins 8 of the 11 varsity events, including two relay races
It was another strong win for the OHS varsity girls swim team last week as they dunked West Bend East, 106-64, in a dual Wisconsin Little Ten conference meet at the YMCA at Pabst Farms.
OHS won 8 of the 11 contested events, including the 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relays.
Swimming for OHS on the 200-yard medley team were freshman Amanda Jordan, junior Samantha Johnston, junior Sarah Konruff, and at anchor, senior Dani Cabrera. Its 1:58.65 clocking earned OHS 8 team points. A Cooney team was also second. Picking up an additional 4 points were sophomore Brianna Zimmer, freshman Brittney Zimmer, freshman Alex Craft, and senior Taylor Tuftee.
The same four swimmer responsible for the win in the medley race won the 400-freestyle relay, winning over a team from East by a comfortable 11 seconds. Another young Cooney quartet took third. Swimming for OHS were senior Sarah Petelinsek, sophomore Chloe Jostad, junior Stephanie Gebbard, and and sophmore Brianna Zimmer.
The lone relay OHS did not win, the 200-free relay saw OHS finish second. Swimming for OHS in that race were Brittney Zimmer, Craft, Tuftee, and Gebbard.
Individual winners for OHS included Konruff—200- and 500-yard free; Jordan—200 individual medley; Cabrera—50-yard free and 100-yard butterfly; and Johnston—100-yard breaststroke.
Picking up second-place points in individual races for OHS were Craft—100-yard butterfly; Brittney Zimmer—100-yard free; Johnston—500-yard free; Jordan—100-yard backstroke; sophomore Catherine Olson—and 100-yard breaststroke.
On Thursday, Oct. 16, at the YMCA at Pabst Farms, the girls host Beaver Dam in another dual conference meet. The first event starts at 6 p.m.
