The 2013 OHS girls golf team opened practice Monday morning at Rolling Hills, looking to improve on its third-place finish last season.
Junior Alix Larson, a third-team Wisconsin Little Ten conference selection last year, is expected to one of this season’s leaders for veteran coach Jason Dahl.
Dahl, however, must find replacements for 2013 second-team performer Allie Dahlke and and third-team choice Kalie Parra. Both were June graduates of the school.
Beaver Dam is the defending WLT champ. West Bend, which fields a team made up of golfers from both West and East, finished second, just ahead of Oconomowoc. Leading Beaver Dam is last year’s WLT Golfer of the Year, Abby Chase. She’ll be joined by sophomore Ashley Kulka, another first team selection last season.
OHS has a rich tradition in girls golf, having won 14 WLT team championships since 1976. Its last championship came in 2008. Oconomowoc’s Samara Kluever (2003) still has the lowest average score, 40.0, for any medalist.
Also winning medalist honors for OHS in the past were Alexa Snyder, 2009 and 2008; Abby Johnson, 2006, 2005, and 2004; Katie Lang, 1999; Beth Shovick, 1986; Julie Murphy, 1984, and Beth St. Thomas, 1981.
