Dahlke leads OHS scoring; coach Jason Dahl calls the effort ‘a good start.’
Last week’s 11th place finish at the 24-team Milwaukee Pius IX girls golf tournament, according to Cooney coach Jason Dahl, “was a good start for us.”
Local and state power Arrowehead, as expected, won the tournament with a low 325. Green Bay Notre Dame finished second, just 2.3 points behind. Beaver Dam, the only other Wisconsin Little Ten conference team competing, was fifth, with a 353. Oconomowoc’s 286 earned it a spot just outside the top ten finishers. Beaver Dam’s Abby Chase shot a 72, one stroke behind medalist Anika Hitt of Homestead, wh9o recorded a 71.
For Oconomowoc, senior Allie Dahlke led the way with a 93 (43-50). Helping her cause was a birdie on the par 5 third hole.
Junior Carly Garcia was only a stroke behind at 94 (44-50). Kalli Parra shot a 99 (49-50) and sophomore Alix Larson came home with an even 100 (50-50), for the Raccoons.
Highlights for OHS included Garcia’s birdie on the par 4 18th hole (her approach shot was within five feet of the green); and Larson’s chip shot on the par 5 13th, good for a birdie.
Said Dahl after the tournament, “Every player had good stretches today, so that is encouraging, but we know we can definitely knock off 5 shots a player.”
